Arguments From Ignorance: 15 Questions for Evolutionists (Part 3)

In Arguments From Ignorance on November 19, 2011 at 10:38 pm

Well, this is it folks. This little series of posts has brought me the largest viewership I’ve had in my…er…month of blogging. Sorry it took so long. I know I promised I’d have it up sooner, but I’ve been caught up in some planning for something of a change in leadership in an organization I’m a part of (I’ve put too much time into this group to watch its current leadership continue to shit all over it the way they have been; in case you cared). Anyway, as much as I hate to see this little series go, it’s time to finish off this list of non-arguments and misinformation.┬áIf you have managed to bear with me through parts one and two, I cannot thank you enough for putting up with my rambling and ranting. Just one more set, and this is all over. I promise.

Arguments From Ignorance: 15 Questions for Evolutionists (Part 2)

In Arguments From Ignorance on November 15, 2011 at 3:06 am

Welcome to the second installment in my 3-part series, Arguments From Ignorance, where I attempt to answer Creation Ministries International’s “15 Questions for Evolutionists” (Part 1 is here). In the last post, I dealt with questions 1 through 5, and for this I intend to deal with 6 through 10. If, once you’ve read the post (or posts), you happen to have any questions, would like me to clarify something, or simply want to inform me that I’m going to burn in hell, please let me know, and I’ll be sure to respond appropriately. Now, on to the questions!

Arguments From Ignorance: 15 Questions for Evolutionists (Part 1)

In Arguments From Ignorance on November 14, 2011 at 3:33 am

I started off this post with the intention to answer all 15 questions in a single post. However, I soon realized that to answer all 15 questions in the manner I wanted to (i.e., relatively detailed, informational, etc.), I would need to write a long damn post; and I know from past experience, the Internet’s attention span is quite short. So, I decided to split the post up into 3 parts, each dealing with a set of 5 questions from Creation Ministries International’s list of “15 Questions for Evolutionists” (or, as Conservapedia calls them, “15 Questions Evolutionists Cannot Satisfactorily Answer”). I’m calling this mini-series “Arguments From Ignorance” because, well, that’s basically what these questions are (also, it goes really well with my blog title). They are all aimed at getting the “evolutionist” they are questioning to admit that they don’t know the answer to a particular question, so that they can then jump on that lack of knowledge and say that, obviously, since the “evolutionist” doesn’t know the answer, god must have done it. And, of course, as anyone with even a basic understanding of philosophy and/or logic can tell you, this is an extremely flawed method of argumentation (see: Argument from Ignorance).

“You’re Wrong, Fatty!”

In Conservapedia on November 8, 2011 at 11:42 pm

One of the first things I noticed when I first started surfing Conservapedia was an incredibly obvious reliance on ad hominem attacks. Honestly, it’s slightly disturbing that on a supposedly educational site, the article on “Atheism and Obesity” is much longer and far more in depth than the articles on the triangular trade and African slave trade (which are extremely disturbing in and of themselves, but I’ll save that for another time). As it turns out, obesity is something which is apparently very well documented with regard to anything conservative Christians don’t like (see: Homosexuality and Obesity, Lesbianism and Obesity, Evolutionists who have had problems with being overweight and/or obese).
